"One Step On" (1969) is the debut album by the British trio Jody Grind, released in October 1969 on the independent label Transatlantic Records. Led by organist and vocalist Tim Hinkley, the band took its name from Horace Silver's famous jazz composition "The Jody Grind."
This release is considered a vibrant, though little-known, example of the British underground of the late 1960s. Robert Fripp nearly joined the band during rehearsals, but he ultimately founded King Crimson, and Jody Grind recorded their debut with the original lineup.
The album was not a major commercial success at the time, but today enjoys cult status among collectors of early British progressive rock and fans of the heavy organ sounds of the late 1960s.
