Akusmi - Terra Incognita (2026) [Hi-Res]

French composer and multi-instrumentalist Pascal Bideau, performing as Akusmi, has announced his new album "Terra Incognita," to be released via the Tonal Union label. Deviating from the precise structures of his previous records, this new LP embraces the vibrant, free-form energies of Afrobeat, Highlife, and electronic Afro-pop, fusing them with spiritual jazz and minimalism. The album's core concept revolves around the French term dépaysement—the profound sensation of disorientation and wonder when experiencing a completely unfamiliar cultural environment. The recording features an array of guest artists, including tabla virtuoso Sarathy Korwar, Senegalese musician Dudú Kouate on traditional percussion and vocals, Marysia Osu from the Levitation Orchestra on harp, and electronic producer Daniel Brandt, while the author himself utilizes an extensive collection of global ethnic instruments accumulated during his travels.
