"Absolute Funk, Vol. 1" (2005) is the first installment in the cult archival compilation series released by the French independent label Body & Soul (catalog number BS 2822).

This collection is aimed at collectors, DJs, and discerning fans of black music, as its main goal is to rescue from oblivion the rarest funk singles, released in tiny print runs on local American labels.

The subtitle on the back cover reads: "20 funk rarities of the highest quality, previously unreleased on CD. 20 flashes of genius inspired by the great masters of funk."
