"Absolute Funk, Vol. 2" (2006) is the long-awaited sequel to the archival funk anthology, released by the French label Body & Soul (catalog number BS 2828).
Like the first volume, this collection aims to save a rare musical legacy. The tracklist includes extremely rare, virtually lost American funk singles from the late 1960s and early 1970s, original vinyl copies of which are now a holy grail for DJs and collectors.
The second volume maintains the overall concept of the series—raw, basement, and uncompromising funk (Raw Funk) with heavy breakbeats, furious brass sections, and piercing vocals. However, compared to the first volume, it places slightly more emphasis on hypnotic instrumental grooves and tracks with a strong psychedelic rock influence (Psychedelic Funk).
