"Absolute Funk, Vol. 3" (2006) is the third installment in a prestigious and highly sought-after French music compilation series dedicated entirely to rare, raw, and little-known funk from the late 1960s and early 1970s.

The compilation was released in 2006 by the French independent label Nocturne (some catalogs also include the associated label Body & Soul). The track selection was handled by renowned music archivist and African-American music expert Gilles Pétard, with liner notes by critic Florent Mazzoleni.

The "Absolute Funk" series was created as a response to the iconic British compilations from Keb Darge and Ace Records. Instead of tired James Brown or Parliament hits, this collection features true gems previously found only on original, worn-out vinyl 45s.

"Absolute Funk, Vol. 3" is ideal for DJs searching for samples, hip-hop producers, and sophisticated music lovers who find standard radio funk too watered-down. The collection showcases the genre in its pristine, underground form.
