La Lucha is an innovative jazz trio from Tampa Bay that brings together three virtuosic musicians from Colombia, Mexico, and the USA. The collective is renowned for its ability to synthesize diverse musical influences into a cohesive, compelling sound, creating high-level performances that engage audiences deeply.
La Lucha has earned numerous prestigious awards and recognition throughout its career. The trio has won the "Best Jazz Ensemble of the Bay" title three times according to Creative Loafing, performed at significant TEDx conferences, and received funding from the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation for a socially meaningful project raising awareness about Alzheimer's disease.
The collective boasts an impressive discography, starting with their debut album "A Cup of Fuzzy Water" (2009) and culminating in their latest work "La Lucha Plays The 80s" — an audio-visual project reimagining 1980s hits. Notable releases include the album "Everybody Wants To Rule The World" (2020) on Arbors Records, produced by legendary clarinetist Ken Peplowski and featuring stars such as Melissa Aldana and Houston Person.
La Lucha's professional activities extend far beyond the United States — the collective has performed at prestigious European festivals, including the Umbria Jazz Festival in Italy and Jazz a Juan on the French Riviera.
