"Lord Cromwell Plays Suite for Seven Vices" is the second studio album by the Italian experimental project Opus Avantra, released in 1975 on Suono Records.
It is one of the most radical, dark, and conceptual works at the intersection of progressive rock and the academic avant-garde of the 1970s.
Opus Avantra was formed in Venice by singer Donella Del Monaco (a magnificent soprano and niece of the great operatic tenor Mario Del Monaco), philosopher Giorgio Bizotto, and composer-keyboardist Alfredo Tizocco. The band's name itself reflects their creative credo: a combination of traditional academic art (Opus), avant-garde (Avangarde), and folk tradition (Tradizione).
