The Procession - Fiaba (1974)

Unlike the raw, guitar-driven debut Frontiera (1972), Fiaba showcases a more refined, complex, and mature symphonic sound with rich arrangements, featuring prominent roles for the brass duo (saxophone and flute), acoustic guitar, and keyboards.

For the album, the band significantly revamped its lineup, adding multi-instrumentalist Maurizio Gianotti (saxophone, flute). The recording also featured guest appearances by RPI stars: drummer Francesco "Frogio" Francica (Raccomandata con Ricevuta di Ritorno), keyboardist Ettore Vigo (Delirium), and singer Silvana Aliotta (Circus 2000).

The album ("Fairytale") lives up to its name with a fairytale-like, pastoral, and occasionally dramatic atmosphere. Acoustic folk passages smoothly give way to jazz-rock improvisations, Gianfranco Gaza's expressive vocals and powerful emotional climaxes.
