"The Sailor" is the tenth studio album by the distinguished American singer-songwriter Mickey Newbury, released in 1979 on Hickory Records. This record completes his seminal "seafaring" trilogy of the late 1970s (following "Rusty Tracks" and "His Eye Is on the Sparrow"), in which the musician deeply explored themes of loneliness, nostalgia, and the passing of time.
