Ivan Graziani - Pigro (1978)

"Pigro" (1978) is the fourth studio album by Italian rock cantautore (singer-songwriter) and virtuoso guitarist Ivan Graziani, released on the Ricordi label (cat. no. SMRL 6231).

The album stands out among Italian music of the 1970s for its unique synthesis: Graziani combined the profound, ironic, and socially charged lyrics of traditional cantautore with the virtuoso, driving, and sharply accented guitar work of a rock style.

"Pigro" (translated as "Lazy") marked a milestone in Graziani's career and is part of the celebrated trilogy of his best albums, along with "I ballabili" (1977) and "Agnese dolce Agnese" (1979).

Conceptually, the album mocks human laziness, intellectual hypocrisy, falsehood, and societal apathy. The title track, "Pigro," describes a man who, despite possessing knowledge and opportunity, does nothing out of sheer laziness.

The album also contains one of the biggest and most touching hits of the musician's career—the composition "Monna Lisa," which tells the fictional story of an attempt to steal the Mona Lisa from the Louvre.
