Kalaban - Edge of Infinity (2017)

Edge of Infinity is the third full-length album by the American band Kalaban. Released in 2017, it followed a lengthy period of inactivity caused by the band members taking a break from working on other projects. The album was a logical continuation of the musical ideas of Resistance Is Useless (1993), but offered an even more eccentric and contrasting sound. The musicians combined classical academic melodies and complex symphonic rock arrangements with humorous, raw, and sometimes experimental street rock elements. The album features both sweeping, multi-minute epics and more specific compositions with elements of satire, irony, and space rock.

The sonic palette is built on Randy Graves's recognizable guitar style, multi-layered keyboard parts, and the alternation of extended instrumental passages with vocal fragments.

Plastika Edge of Infinity marks the return of the American prog veterans with a vibrant, wilful, and uncompromising album.
