Maya Ongaku explores the boundaries of perception in their latest album, Nothing Space Music. Formed in the seaside towns surrounding Enoshima, the trio relies on intuition and spontaneous occurrence to create their music. The group developed this project as a direct reflection on the concepts of stillness and silence following years of international touring. To capture this sound, Maya Ongaku built a custom environment called Nothing Space Studio within a soundproof building near a local shrine. This dedicated workspace allowed the band to cultivate a meditation on presence and attentive listening. The resulting record highlights the possibility of rediscovering the world by focusing on the quiet spaces beneath the noise of modern life.
