Newcastle singer-songwriter Adam Newling is bringing his debut album, The Bloody Unknown, home with a special in-store performance and signing at Abicus.

The hometown event will give local fans the chance to hear Newling perform songs from the album in the intimate surrounds of Abicus before meeting the artist and getting their copies signed.

It comes as the Newcastle musician enters a major new chapter in his career following almost two years of work on the record.

The Bloody Unknown was produced with Fletcher Matthews and features an impressive list of collaborators, including Grammy-nominated producer Catherine Marks, whose credits include boygenius and Foals.

Josh Block, known for his work with Leon Bridges, and Jorge Andre, who has worked with Olivia Rodrigo, also contributed to the album.

The record has already made an impact ahead of its release. First single Foxtrap made Newling the most-playlisted Australian artist in the country during its release week and landed him on the cover of Spotify’s Tapestry playlist, while LIFE helped launch the album campaign and earned a spot in triple j rotation.

The album arrives following a huge year of live performances for Newling, including sold-out headline shows in Sydney, Melbourne and London and multiple sell-outs on his regional Australian tour.

He has also toured Australia with Richy Mitch & The Coal Miners, performed at Howlin’ Country Music Festival and supported Crowded House at Bondi Beach, building momentum around what is shaping up to be a defining release.

Adam Newling’s The Bloody Unknown is released globally on Friday, 21 August 2026, with the hometown album celebration taking place at Abicus in Newcastle on Tuesday, 25 August. Further event and ticket information is available through Abicus.
