Street musician The Space Lady began her artistic journey in the late 1970s across Boston and San Francisco, performing in flamboyant outfits with an accordion while sharing messages of peace and harmony. Following the theft of her instrument, she adopted a Casio keyboard and an echo unit, creating a distinct cosmic sound rooted in outsider pop and lo-fi synth-pop. The sole surviving recording of her early street sets circulated for years on self-released cassettes and homemade CDs until Night School Records issued "The Space Lady’s Greatest Hits." The compilation features her original interstellar tracks alongside minimalist reimaginings of 1960s psychedelic rock classics, including covers of The Electric Prunes, Sweet, and David Bowie.
