Creation Rebel's final album, Lows & Highs, captures a complex transitional era in Jamaican music during the early-to-mid 1980s, as traditional Roots Reggae began giving way to the rising wave of Dancehall. Serving as the successor to Psychotic Junkanoo, the record trades some of its predecessor's carefree energy for a more conventional approach, yet it still delivers standout moments. The highlight of the release is a cover of Bob Andy's "Independent Man," sweetly delivered by "Lizard" Logan, featuring a Dub mix crafted by producer Adrian Sherwood that achieves a spectral atmosphere matching his finest era work. Although tracks like Crucial Tony's "A Reasoning" represent the record's weaker moments, songs such as "No Peace" and "Rubber Skirt" deliver engaging early-1970s Reggae-Pop skanks reminiscent of John Holt's classic recordings.
