Alva Noto, Ryuichi Sakamoto - 12 Conversations (2026) [Hi-Res]

The long-standing collaboration between Japanese composer Ryuichi Sakamoto and German electronic artist Carsten Nicolai (Alva Noto) represents a defining chapter in contemporary electroacoustic music. Beginning in 2002, their joint work centered on a rare synthesis of contrasts: deep, expressive acoustic piano paired with abstract, formalist electronic processing. Over two decades, this creative partnership yielded the «V.I.R.U.S.» album series, the film score for The Revenant, the site-specific architectural performance «Glass», and the live document «Two» recorded at the Sydney Opera House.

In 2026, the Noton label releases a collaborative album by the duo titled «12 Conversations». The underlying recordings were captured in November and December 2022 during the same creative sessions that birthed Sakamoto's final solo album, «12». Though not originally intended as a standalone release, both artists later chose to present these musical exchanges as a dedicated work. The album stands as an exploratory testament to their ongoing sonic dialogue, continuing their artistic legacy beyond physical boundaries.
