Sofi Paez - Bodies of Water (2026) [Hi-Res]

Berlin-based Costa Rican pianist, singer, and composer Sofi Paez is preparing to release her second full-length album, «Bodies Of Water», on the OPIA Community label. Written between Iceland and Germany, the record adopts water as its central conceptual framework to explore themes of grief, emotional resilience, renewal, and deep reflection. The project features creative collaborations with Lara Somogyi, Miguel Murrieta Vásquez, and Evan Gildersleeve.

The focal single «Ocean» drew its initial creative spark from Ernest Hemingway's novel The Old Man and the Sea. Reflecting the vast and unpredictable nature of the sea, the composition translates personal feelings of frustration into a musical narrative of perseverance: a solitary piano bassline steadily expands with expressive, live string arrangements, culminating in an uplifting finale. Along with the previously released tracks «Waterfall» and «Pond», the single defines the album's sonic landscape, combining neoclassical piano motifs, ambient textures, subtle electronic elements, and vocal passages.

Sofi Paez's discography includes her 2024 debut album «Silent Stories», which was showcased at the silent green Kulturquartier in Berlin and at the Jazz Café Escazú in Costa Rica, as well as a three-track collaborative live release, «Reykjavík Sessions (Live)», featuring Davidsson.
