British vocalist Rachael Calladine, possessing a three-decade career that includes work with the hip-hop collective Us3 and touring experience with Amy Winehouse, released the album Soho Elegy. Moving away from her previous record The Game (33 Jazz, 2025), which focused on jazz standards, this project centers on original material composed by pianist Dr. Adrian York, guitarist Pat McCarthy, and the singer herself. The recording lineup features bassist Andy Tytherleigh, drummer Simon Potts, and guest trumpeter James McMillan, who co-produced the record alongside Claire Martin OBE.

The album's stylistic direction spans jazz, soul, blues, swing, and Latin jazz. The opening track "Walk of Shame" establishes a smoky jazz mood, "Fashionista" highlights rapid vocal diction, and the title track Soho Elegy evokes the atmosphere of 1990s London's Soho district through soulful vocals and bluesy keyboards. A notable highlight is the ballad "The Golden Hour," inspired by Calladine's experience as an emergency medical driver during the pandemic, while the track "No More," written by the singer two decades prior, introduces a vintage singer-songwriter quality to the album.
