The third stage of Filippo Gorini’s piano odyssey as part of his Sonata for 7 Cities project: Hong Kong, October–November 2025. In a city where every centimetre counts, every second counted, and I was able to connect to every side of its community. I played for the homeless and millionaires, I played for the disabled and refugees, I taught children from disadvantaged backgrounds and elite music students says Gorini. This album was recorded at Hong Kong City Hall and, as with every work from the Italian pianist’s journey, it combines major works from the repertoire with contemporary compositions: the programme features Beat Furrer’s new Étude, a tour de force piece full of striking, nervous tension, followed by Johannes Brahms’s mesmerizing Fantasies Op. 116 and Schubert’s Sonata in G major.
