'Pleyel' is a superior live album, with lively performances recorded at Pleyel in Paris September/October 1994.
The only weaker moments on the CD are due to audience participation. On 'Si, Maman, Si' the audience sing the chorus, and on 'Les Uns Contre Les Autres' from the French show 'Starmania', the audience sing parts of the song.
There are covers of Michel Berger solo recordings. The track 1 ballad 'On N'est Pas Seul', is from MB's 1981 album 'Beaurivage'. The closing song 'La Bonne Musique' is from the 1976 album 'Mon Piano Danse'. 'Les Princes Des Villes' from 1983's Voyou' crackles with life and is the best version of the song I have heard.
Two songs are performed from the (then) recent 'Double Jeu' album; 'Laissez Passer Les Reves' & 'Superficiel Et Leger', with both sounding less clinical than their studio counterparts.
Elsewhere there are pleasing performances of 'Cezanne Peint', 'Diego', 'Mais Aime La', 'Musique' and the Michel Berger / Francoise Hardy co-write 'Message Personnel'. The song 'Resiste' has impressive drumming.
In between songs, France Gall speaks to the audience in a good humoured and likeable way; in French of course.
