Technically, Andrea True wasn't a one-hit wonder because 1976's "More, More, More" wasn't her only hit—the porn actress turned disco diva also enjoyed a lot of dance club exposure with "N.Y., You Got Me Dancing" and "What's Your Name, What's Your Number" in 1978. But it is safe to say that her career in music was short-lived, and that "More, More, More" was her only major pop/Top 40 hit. Released in 1978, White Witch was True's second album as well as her last. This LP finds True experiencing the infamous sophomore slump—while White Witch isn't a bad album, it falls short of the excellence her first album, More, More, More. There are a few gems, including the Michael Zager-produced "What's Your Name, What's Your Number" and the exuberant, Gregg Diamond-produced "N.Y., You Got Me Dancing"—both of which are exercises in unapologetically campy fun. Also enjoyable is True's trashy cover of Lou Reed's "Sally Can't Dance." But the other material is unremarkable. While Diamond saw to it that More, More, More was consistently strong, White Witch is wildly uneven—the fact that The Right Stuff's 1997 collection More, More, More: The Best of the Andrea True Connection contains five songs from True's first album and only two from her second really lets you know how uneven White Witch is. This LP is strictly for diehard disco collectors.
