What you’ve got right here, fresh out of the oven, is the debut album from Southern California’s latest swinging combo, The Southwest Biscuit Company! If you have an appetite for Hillbilly Jazz and Western Swing, you’re sure to enjoy this tasty batch of tunes, which includes ten original-recipe numbers written by the band’s own impressive songwriters - Jody Byrd, Dan Weinstein and Jordan Bush. Fortified with a group of very talented musicians, this platter promises to please dancers and listeners alike, and with master chef Deke Dickerson helming the production, how could you go wrong? These guys are excited for you to sample their wares, so believe me when I tell you, “It’s Biscuit Time…” folks, and my advice is to get ‘em while they’re hot!
The Southwest Biscuit Company are a Hillbilly Jazz and Western Swing outfit, comprised of Jody Byrd on lead vocals, Jordan Bush on Steel Guitar, Clarinet, banjo, harmonica, piano and harmony vocals, Armando Wood on Bass Fiddle and harmony vocals, Scotty McLean on Take-off guitar and harmony vocals, Dan Weinstein on fiddle, trumpet and trombone and Dave Green on drums. SBC follows the tradition started by acts like Bob Wills and Texas Playboys, and Hank Penny, as well as contemporaries like The Lucky Stars, and The B Stars, with a bit of their own twist. Playing a mix of great western swing standards, and originals in the style of vintage country and western, as well as jazz standards, and a bit of rockabilly for fun, this band is a dance band, and the groove is always keeping the dancers in mind, with infectious beats that the dancers cannot get enough of. Come check them out at your local watering hole, or swing dance event.
