Frøydis Grorud - End of a Beautiful Story (2020)

Frøydis Grorud's new album will be released on Jazzland Recordings in February 2020. Together with three eminent musicians, she has recorded a very personal album with twelve compositions, set in a melodic, improvisational and open musical landscape. The music evokes beautiful and wild moods, with elements from classical, jazz, soul, gospel, Brazilian and Norwegian folk music.

Flutist and saxophonist Frøydis Grorud is one of Norway's most active live artists. In addition to being the front figure in the live band of NRK's ​​Beat for Beat, she has appeared on numerous albums, concerts, tours and television recordings. End of a Beautiful Story is her 6th solo release.

It was in a small prayer house in southern Norway, surrounded by old instruments and furniture from a bygone era, where Frøydis and the musicians found the calm and the inspiration to record new music. These surroundings gave a special sound and atmosphere to the recording where each musician was given great freedom and space in the organic and warm soundscape. "When we can be together over time and everyone gets a personal ownership of the project, I think we play at our very best," says Frøydis.
