Neal Casal - The Sun Rises Here (1998)

Some pedestrian fare underpinned by threadbare changes here. Matters improve significantly on the mischievous/celebratory "Dandelion Wine" and the pleasantly specific "The New Jenny Jenkins." The track that justifies the price of entry alone is the sublime "On the Mend," which stands up to repeat listens with some original and allusive lyrics. Effectively a calling card for what the man is really capable of.
