Grapha - Bös'lecker (2020) Hi-Res

There is currently an impressive recording on the Chaos Records label by a band called GRAPHA with the wondrous title "bös’lecker". The recipe for this miniature big band is amazingly simple: a wind quintet and a first-class, dynamic rhythm section present a mixture of nostalgic swing arrangements, paired with driving grooves. Folkloristic Tyrolean joke meets flawless jazz here. That fits! The compositions, mostly from the pen of the band leader and saxophonist Raphael Huber, flow musically unmistakably in West Coast style with verve and a wink, because the jazz prankster flashes regularly and leads the listener into surprising realms. Does anyone know e.g. Cesare Andrea Bixio's hit 1930s hit "Mamma" ... grin ... you have to dare: Heintje's 60s Schnulzen adaptation was dusted off here and subjected to a mischievous sound-lifting - so you can hear "Mama" carefree and without shame.
