Ennio Morricone is undoubtedly the most famous composer of music of films of the twentieth century. He is also one of the most prolific composers, working on any type of medium. He has composed music for hundreds of movies over several decades, perhaps more than 500. Although he has written for almost every musical style imaginable (and for almost every type of film), his name is more original soundtracks of the "spaghetti westerns", a style of which he was the pioneer with the musical themes he composed for the films of director Sergio Leone. The palette of Morricone is extremely varied, ranging from classical music, jazz, pop, rock, electronic music, avant-garde music and Italian music, among others. ~ Richie Unterberger.
