This record is a reflection of my lifelong memories, experiences, visions and dreams. I have been deeply awakened by music since I was a young boy. Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, Ludwig Von Beethoven, Jackson Browne, Earl Scruggs, Miles Davis, Bill Monroe, folk melodies and Charlie Parker are a small sampled cross section of musicians that have inspired me over the years. Melodies, and stories that accompany the melody,…that’s what interests me, that’s what I connect to. Honest original music is obvious. It is not contrived, it falls out of the artist as a culmination of their personal moments of struggle, living, contemplating, loving, appreciating and creating. I hope you enjoy theses personal melodies and stories of my own. Enjoy! -John Mattern
