Maceo Plex - Journey To Solar (2016)

Maceo Plex returns on his respected Ellum Audio imprint with a new album. Here the fellow known to his Mum as Eric Estornel presents some highly engineered grooves that reflect his extensive background in producing techno and electro; way back to his modest Dallas, Texas beginnings under the tutelage of greats like Gerard Hanson (Covenxtion/E.R.P.) where he used such aliases as Mariel Ito and Maetrik. Return to Solar is certainly diverse in its execution of various moods and grooves but overall has a definite sense of soul and emotion throughout. We particularly enjoyed the the intelligent electro of "The Replicant V1" or "Love On Time", the hi-tech soul of "Shoulder Of Orion" and the tough futurist stomp of "Traktion".
