Strix Q was a Swedish music group from Stockholm, formed in 1977. The group is best known as Magnus Uggla's backing band.
Strix Q was formed after Magnus Uggla's tour in 1977. The musicians who played with Uggla had until then gone by the name Strix ("Uggla" in Latin). They received an offer from Uggla's manager to record their own record. They grabbed and played with Uggla as producer in his song "Sommartid" in the version they had played during the tour. The single was released in 1978 but was not a huge success. At the same time, a tour was also performed and the debut album Strix Q was released.
The group acquired a new producer and began work on a new album in 1979. Bassist Lasse Hermin then dropped out. Singer Staffan Birkenfalk took over the keyboard and the base was handed over to Olle Olander. The group released the album Show What You Go For and followed it up with a tour.
When the single "Boyss" was released, it came loose for the band. It became film music for Ingmar Bergman's film about Fårö. Strix Q got to perform live on SVT's Monday Exchange.
The album Capitol City was released in 1980. The group went on a CBS-sponsored tour with two other Stockholm bands. After that, the band got a new manager. The first folk park tour was put together and the group played in about 50 places. The tour ended at Liseberg in front of 5,000 people and "Boyss" received an award for the best disco single of the year.
In 1981, the group re-entered the studio. This time without record label. The only thing they had behind them was the publisher who paid for the stay in the studio.
Just before the summer of 1982, Magnus Uggla heard from him. He wanted to include the entire Strix Q and his own two guitarists on his summer tour in 1983.
In 1982-1983, the band also participated in Chattanooga's album "Stop the Press!" and "The twinkle in the eye".
