The ‘In Solitary’ album was recorded in early 2013 and is a pure solo recording. No overdubs or recording tricks - just GF voice and guitar recorded ‘live in the studio’.

GF comments:- “I’d been playing solo shows and written a number of songs and instrumental guitar pieces that seem to work best in the solo format. When selling CDs at these shows I’d started to get asked for CDs that reflected what audience members had just seen so I headed for the studio with my long suffering and very gifted engineer/co-producer Bill Gautier and really enjoyed the challenge of, effectively, one take recording! As ever Bill worked his magic and I’m very pleased with the immediacy and warmth of the recordings”.

"For the first time I've included some covers - 3 in this case. Willie Dixon's 'The same thing' has long been a favourite of mine (from my favourite Chicago blues writer). "Nobody's Fault" is a Blind Willie Johnson song intorduced to me by my long standing colleague in The Blues Band, Paul Jones. Chuck Berry's "Maybellene" is just a classic tune from arguably rock and roll's greatest songwiter. My versions are very distinctly my own take on the song i.e. not attempting in any way to emulate or copy the original - just taking them in my own style in a simple voice and guitar only way. As with several of the originals on the album I employ some different guitar tunings and my 'upside down' playing style (i.e. I play a right handed strung guitar left handed) combines with those to deliver a sound which - for good or bad! - is my own sound."

The album also includes 3 instrumental tracks and 6 original songs and whilst there is a blusey flavour to some of the tracks this is in no way a down home blues record...Think rootsy, contemporary folk, americana with a bluesy tinge and you won’t be too far off.
