Bob Moses - Visit With The Great Spirit (2022)

Bob Moses, formerly known as a tasteful and flexible drummer, really came into his own as a composer/arranger during his period with Gramavision. This ambitious effort has seven of his diverse and colorful originals. Such distinctive voices as trumpeter Tiger Okoshi, soprano-saxophonist David Liebman, tenorman Bob Mintzer, altoist David Sanborn, guitarists Bill Frisell and John Scofield and tuba player Howard Johnson (not to mention various percussionists and background singers) are utilized by Moses in imaginative ways. When Elephants Dream of Music, Moses's previous release, is still his definitive recording but this album comes close, making one wish that Bob Moses could record in this type of setting on at least an annual basis.
