In 2020, many of us were under the spell of COSSE and their most intense EP. The French quartet has made the world agree with this fusion between post-rock and noise-rock which has earned them an extraordinary reputation on stage. It's time for confirmation with their first long format called It Turns Pale.
Through these ten compositions, COSSE intends to impose itself on the scene with its well-defined style. The result is an incredible storm of rage and emotion perfectly distilled with titles full of passion rich in reverbs of all kinds such as the introduction called "Crazy Horse" as well as "Evening" and "Easy Things" where the quartet staggers between chaos and harmony.
Sometimes post-punk with "Mind Facilities" sometimes slowcore with "Slow Divers", COSSE's music is loaded with thrills. It is obvious that this fusion between math-rock and noise-rock where the specters of June of 44 and Sonic Youth fly over this It Turns Pale, especially when listening to the oppressive "Tangerine". Conversely, a little sweetness and melancholy are on the horizon with "Braindow" but also "Easy Things" with the sublime choirs of Lola Frichet, bassist of Pogo Car Crash Control and Madame "More Women On Stage". . The result is a first record that keeps all its promises and which amazes us from the first to the last note.
