Julián Mekler presents Vida Útil, his second album as leader of this sextet focused on playing original compositions. Vida Útil is a collection of eight pieces in which this group's sound mixes with the language of singer-songwriters’.
Divided between instrumentals and sung pieces, half of the tracks in this album feature vocalists who also provided these songs with lyrics. The remaining of the pieces develop instrumentally in a similar fashion, resulting in a powerful and sensitive repertoire.
The music from Vida Útil continues the legacy from Invasión! (2019), the album that won him an Honorary Mention in Argentina's 2020 National Prizes for the Sciences and the Arts. Vida Útil is also released on Isla Desierta Discos’ label.
This album features the voices and the lyrics of Julia Sanjurjo, Juan Belvis, Natalia Spiner and Fer Fontenla as guest artists. The group is completed with Jeanette Nenezian on trumpet, Lucas Goicoechea on tenor saxophone, Pablo Cavalchini on electric guitar, Pia Hernández on piano, Federico Isasti on drums and Julián Mekler on bass.
