New Surroundings is the debut release for London based guitarist and composer Elliot Frost and features a lineup some of the city’s finest musicians with Jonathan Chung on tenor saxophone, Calum Gourlay on double bass and Corrie Dick on drums.

The album serves to document Frost’s experience in music since relocating from his home in Boorloo/Perth, Australia to London in 2019. The compositions were written in the whirlwind of experiences that came with moving to the other side of the world.

Frost’s music is heavily influenced by Modern Jazz sensibilities, particularly by some of the music that was happening in New York from the late 90’s through to the 2010’s. Some musicians that stand out are the likes of Lage Lund, Brad Mehldau, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Seamus Blake and Aaron Parks. Frost also draws inspiration from jazz musicians and composers from past generations such as Wayne Shorter, Sam Rivers and John Coltrane. Elliot Frost is a new fresh and interesting composer and guitarist, ready to show his skills.
