This is a particularly intriguing release from Nick Brignola. Best known as a top baritonist, Brignola created his own woodwind ensemble for the disc by overdubbing on baritone, soprano, alto, tenor, clarinet, alto clarinet, bass clarinet, flute, alto flute, and piccolo. Joined by pianist Kenny Barron and bassist Dave Holland, Brignola is showcased on a series of arrangements by his regular pianist of the period, Mike Holober. In addition to some originals of Holober's, Brignola plays his many horns on such songs as "Speak Low," "I Thought About You," and "If You Could See Me Now." The arrangements are diverse and colorful, taking advantage of the potential tone colors and making this a very different Nick Brignola recording.
