For the uninitiated, the music of Danish saxophonist Michael Blicher is akin to that favoured by organist James Taylor - classic jazz funk dominated by the soulful sounds of tenor saxophone and Hammond organ, as testified in this dynamic and groove filled album, 'Blicher Hemmer Gadd'. Featuring live tracks from various venues on their tour of Scandinavia, all the compositions are by Michael Blicher, with the exception of "In A Little Spanish Town" by Mabel Wayne, and "Like It Is" by Yusef Lateef.

Michael Blicher and organist Dan Hemmer work with a number of different group combinations, but this is their debut as a trio with the US drummer, Steve Gadd. A chance encounter and a shared love of tenor/organ combos of the 60s and 70s lead the three to join forces for the tour of Scandinavia, the highlights of which can be heard on this excellent CD.
