Dorothy Moore - Time Out For Me (1988)

Dorothy Moore left Malaco and tried her luck with the reactivated Volt label in the late '80s, evidently thinking that Fantasy might be able to get her more exposure outside the South. That didn't prove the case with her debut for the new Volt, partly because there wasn't the monster hit that could break the urban contemporary radio embargo against Southern product. It also had such an old-time soul quality that its appeal was limited from the start. That doesn't mean it wasn't well-sung, produced, and arranged, or that Moore didn't deserve to make the music she felt comfortable doing. It just made the whole project a long shot, and it never was able to beat the odds.~Time Out for Me Review by Ron Wynn
