Plini is one of the best, magical prog guitarists of our time; delightfully technical - without, however, making technicality an end in itself; intelligently soft, understandable, with incredible harmony combining djent, math rock, funk notes, jazz influences in his compositions - soothing, recognizable, one of those amazing instrumentalists who don’t need vocals at all - because guitars, merging with myriads of voices, tell the most outlandish stories . Steve Vai called him "the future of great guitar playing," but you don't have to be Vai to love Plini. And you don’t even have to adore progressive.
In general, this wonderful 31-year-old Australian man is releasing a mini-album Mirage in December (this is the sixth mini-album in his history; there are also two full-length albums), and here are a couple of themes from it. The “Still Life” video with guest guitar by Tosin Abasi (as well as the most ridiculous gray carpet on the shoulders, reminiscent of either accumulations of umbilical fluff or the bed of a Siberian cat) and airy both in sound and visuals of “Ember” (not without also one shaggy gray sweater).
