Karl Bohm, Wiener Philharmoniker - Bruckner: Symphonies Nos. 7 and 8 (2021)

Karl Böhm’s Bruckner recordings are justly famous. I remember in my youth hearing his fourth, and though I loved the Scherzo with its hunting horns, the slow movement was interminable! How could any sane person tolerate that!?! Maybe five years later I was swearing by Böhm’s incomparable Adagios! The recordings from the late 60s to the mid-70s remain to this day desert island choices for many collectors. This Bruckner 8th has appeared in various guises and was released in hi-res by Deutsche Grammophon itself, but somehow Böhm’s incredible 7th kept getting overlooked. Finally Tower Records in Japan filled the breech and it is for this reason I present this set now. Enjoy!
