The debut album by cellist Natania Hoffman and pianist Monika Dars, entitled "Resistance", examines the confrontation between the Soviet Union and the Third Reich with four exemplary compositions. Comparisons with current conflicts are obvious. The works by Dmitri Shostakovich, Galina Ustvolskaya, Anatolijus Šenderovas and Joel Hoffman contain harrowing, violent and confrontational passages, which are juxtaposed with moments of timeless beauty, vulnerability and even inner peace.
