2014 Shiner Rising Star winner. 2014 Texas Music Showdown winner. The Buffalo Ruckus is a compendium of roots, Americana, southern soul, psychedelic postmodern avante-garde experimental country-fried rock. Spun from the timbers of heart and soul, the Ruckus took its first musical breath in the early days of 2013. In a short amount of time, the band has spread its musical wings and taken its heavy soul-fueled sound throughout the south. The band had the good fortune to perform at Billy Bob’s, at the 2014 Larry Joe Taylor Festival, open for Foghat, Cheap Trick, and Joan Jett at the 2014 Wildflower Festival, and share the stage with many other respected Texas artists. Boot-stomping rhythms, howling vocals, and spear-in-the-back guitar leads their overall objective: Spread the Ruckus. Their debut self-titled album was produced by the band and Grammy nominee Chris Bell (has worked with the Eagles, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Erykah Badu, and U2) of Blade Studios and takes listeners on a genre-defying journey through Americana, folk, blues, country, and roots rock-n-roll. The heavier southern rock side of the album comes through in songs like Son of a Rebel’s Son, High Again and If It’s For Love which highlights the gravel soaked vocal power of lead singer Jason Lovell. The folk/Americana side of the album can be heard in Moonlight Rebels, Far to Fall and the Appalachia influenced Angilee, which also features the sultry vocals of Grammy nominated Americana artist Shannon McNally (performed with Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp, Vince Gill, Levon Helm, Charlie Sexton, Dr. John, Derek Trucks and many more). The songwriting is pure and soulful with stories of heritage, spirituality, redemption, love gained and love lost. Their debut album is now available.
