Novi Piano Duo, Anna Wielgus-Nowak, Grzegorz Nowak - Cosmopolite (2024) [Hi-Res]

Novi Piano Duo presents works by Alexander Tansman. The album is a confirmation of the performance potential of the combination of two pianos, as well as further proof of the versatility of the composer's talent.

Alexander Tansman's work has become increasingly popular with performers in recent years. Thanks to this, listeners have the opportunity to learn more about the various facets of this outstanding composer's work. The album Le train de nuit contains recordings of music for two ballets by Kurt Jooss, fantasies based on ballets by Johann Strauss, and there are also fugues, completely different in character. Ballet Music and Fantasy are light works, containing elements of pastiche, in the atmosphere of pop music. Fugues, on the other hand, are characterized by a richness of polyphony, the use of dissonant sounds and a virtuoso style.

All compositions presented on the album pose a difficult task to the performers - they require not only impeccable piano technique, but also teamwork between both performers. The winners of this attempt are the members of Novi Piano Duo - a band founded by graduates of the Krakow Academy of Music, which, despite only a few years of experience, has already been honored with numerous awards and performs in many countries. The interpretations of both artists are characterized by the ease of entering into various stylistic conventions and a wealth of dynamic, timbral and agogic nuances.
