Captain Gone arose following an idea in 2004. Lyndon Riley, Jon Arne Bjørnstad, Eric Skaar and Rune Mandelid studying in Leeds together, and drew inspiration for Captain Gone over the years at jazz clubs and concert venues in Leeds and surrounding areas. Only a few years later, now with Olav Senstad the team, they decided to record a full album and made contact with Jonas Kroon as producer. Jonas Kroon is a svorsk composer / producer / mixer that was the best thing that could happen for Captain Gone. He managed with the band to pick out 10 songs from a handful of the 40 that would end up on the plate. Jonas introduced a sound that retained the "old-fashioned" and vintage in appearance. With the use of old authentic instruments and microphones from the old days, separates the plate out of the jungle of modern digital hyper-produced album. The album "A hundred nights like this" is a melancholy collection of melodies and lyrics. The songs range from bare, honest ballads to big, bombastic instrumental passages. Vocal melodies based on the extensive use of mass chorus and layers of blue and rapids. The plate is marked by an inclination toward the sea and sailors. This may be because many of the songs are written in Hardanger up in a place where "no one could believe that anyone could live" (actually has been on the TV series) up on a ledge with the sea as its closest neighbor. Captain Gone has held several concerts in the Hardanger area too.The boys are romantic enough for a Greek drama and put their hearts on the table without having to ask for it. A feminine approach to a masculine emotions including deprivation of women and lost love.
