Myrddin and Koen De Cauter bring a contemporary interpretation with music to the poetry of one of Flemish most famous poets: Guido Gezelle. 30 years ago, Koen de Cauter released his first album with Gezelle lieder together with Dick Van Der Harst. ('t is Stille, 1991) Ten years later the second part came (Terug, 1999) And now finally part three together with son Myrddin De Cauter.
“The oeuvre of Guido Gezelle cannot enjoy great interest these days because the average Flemish in his frustration often shrinks from anything that even remotely hints at traditional Catholic confession of faith; Even innocent descriptions of nature are therefore read with suspicion. These recordings are an attempt to do so, to be able to enjoy those freely written poems as well as that freely written music in freedom and to experience the immense genius of Gezelle in musical silence.”
– Koen de Cauter, October 2023
After the beautiful drawings used in Myrddin's solo album series (Monstruos y Duendes), this project is published as a book with a double CD, where Myrddin has provided its own drawing for each song. (Book version: 18 songs / Digital version: 6 songs)
