Mosley & Johnson - Mosley & Johnson (1987)

A great southern soul duo who were perhaps born a decade or two too late – working here in a modern soul groove, but with a style that still echoes some deep soul roots! The album was recorded in Muscle Shoals and Tupelo, with instrumentation that's decidedly modern – more keyboards and other electric touches than you might expect – but Mosley & Johnson still really keep things real with the way they present the lyrics, especially on the mellower cuts, which are the real standouts here. A few of the upbeat cuts are maybe a misstep, but there's more than enough laidback tracks to make the album great. © 1996-2015, Dusty Groove, Inc.
