The Studio for New Music of the University of Siegen is now celebrating its 20th anniversary! The University of Siegen will mark this jubilee with a concert on 6 February 2015 at 8:00 PM at the Nikolaikirche in Siegen.

Martin Herchenröder, founder and artistic director of the series from the outset, will perform an organ recital with works by Bach, Bruhns, Ligeti, Messiaen, Wolfgang Stockmeier (world premiere) as well as compositions of his own.

Right on time for both the anniversary and the concert, we are now releasing our CD with organ music by Martin Herchenröder: "Linien aus Nachtlicht – Martin Herchenröder, Organ Works", recorded last year on the new Woehl organ in Piteå, Sweden – organ music from the years 1991 to 2011, recorded by the ECHO Prize winner Christian Schmitt, Professor Hans Davidsson from the Royal Conservatory in Copenhagen and by the composer himself. Among other things, the CD brings together the works "Linien aus Nachtlicht" (Lines out of Nocturnal Light) and "Meerleuchten" (Sea Lights) based on paintings of Paul Klee as well as the two "zeit raum“ (time-space) cycles, composed for the re-dedication of the restored organ in Wenzelskirche in Naumburg, which had earlier been inaugurated by Johann Sebastian Bach. It contains Herchenröder's complete oeuvre for organ solo of the past two decades in which the development of the organ music of this period is simultaneously reflected, offering excellent insight into his musical world with three additional recordings and the new recording of the Naumburg cycles (meanwhile out of print on CD).
