Fantahun Shewankochew, Wores G. Egziabher, Ejigayehu Shibabaw - Ethiopie, chants d'amour / Ethiopia, Love Songs (1998)

Fantahun Shewankoche is a singer and krar, born in Addis Ababa in 1967. He received an Ethiopian and Western education in music school and has been a musician and singer at the Addis Ababa National Theater for twelve years. He performs both traditional and his own songs in traditional and contemporary styles, and cultivates a complex style in his playing and vocals, linking poetic content with intonation and dynamics. Singer Gigi Shibabau was born in 1974 and decided to become a singer after moving to Addis Ababa. She listened to her country's musicians and famous performers before escaping to Kenya where she formed a music group and returned to Ethiopia. Her voice is capable of expressing a wide range of emotions. Wores Egziabher was born in 1952 and has been with the National Theater for the past 23 years. He is deeply rooted in the traditions of his region and sings only on the tigre. His voice and instrument playing are a perfect match.
