David Friedman, Martina Barta - YOU TAUGHT MY HEART TO SING (2024) [Hi-Res]

Singer Martina Barta with her unique singing style belongs to one of the most recognized singers of her generation. Born in Prague, she has been living in Berlin since 2011, where she studied singing at the Jazz Institute, and since 2021 she has also been living partly in New York. In 2017 she represented her home country, the Czech Republic at the Eurovision Song Contest in Kiev. Since 2019, she has also performed regularly as a duo with legendary American vibraphonist David Friedman. In addition, she performs with her sister, the successful Czech pianist and composer Kristina Barta, with whom she co-wrote the album "Love and Passion" (Alessa Records) in 2020, among others. Since September 2021, Martina Barta is a DAAD scholarship holder in the master's program at the renowned Academy of Music - Manhattan School of Music in NYC, where she collaborates with jazz musicians such as Buster Williams, Ingrid Jensen and Theo Bleckmann, among others.

The living jazz legend David Friedman is one of the most influential vibraphonists in the history of the instrument. He has collaborated with a diverse array of musical personalities, including Leonard Bernstein, Luciano Berio, Bobby McFerrin, Wayne Shorter, and Yoko Ono. Few jazz musicians can claim such a broad range of stage and recording experience. His list of collaborations also includes performances with Joe Henderson, Horace Silver, Johnny Griffin, Hubert Laws, Jane Ira Bloom, Ron Carter, and John Scofield. In Berlin, he is well-known for his long-standing support of the German jazz scene and held a professorship at the prestigious Jazz Institute of the UdK Berlin.

Povel Widestrand is a Swedish pianist living in Berlin. After a basic classical education, he also studied at the Jazz Institute and graduated with top grades. As a member of various bands, he has been awarded numerous prizes at just 30 years of age, such as the young talent award of the European Jazz Week Burghausen and the Newcomer Award of Sveriges Radio.

Josh Ginsburg is a fixture on concert stages and in jazz clubs around the world. His most recent album as a leader, "Zembla Variations", was named Album of the Year by the New York City Jazz Record. A New York musician from the beginning, he has performed regularly with many influential musicians and has toured internationally with bands led by Kurt Rosenwinkel, David Friedman, Jeremy Pelt, E.J. Strickland, George Colligan, Jure Pukl, Logan Richardson, Diego Piñera, Tino Derado and Aruán Ortiz.

Drummer Amir Bresler was first exposed to jazz music at the age of 15 when he registered for the jazz program at the Thelma-Yellin National High School of the Arts in Givataim, Israel, from which he graduated with honors. In recent years, Amir has established himself as one of Israel's most sought-after drummers, performing in Israel and abroad at prominent local and international jazz festivals. In 2010, Amir joined world-renowned bassist, vocalist and composer Avishai Cohen in concerts around the world. Amir has also performed with guest musicians such as Sam Yahel, Joel Fraham, Mark Turner, Kirk Lightsay and Dwayne Bruno. In addition, Amir plays with various Israeli artists including Daniel Zamir, Kutiman, Gilad Hekselman, Nitai Hershkovits, Shai Maestro, Yotam Silbrestein, Amos Hoffman, Gilad Abro, to name a few.
