trauma ray - Chameleon (2024) [Hi-Res]

Musicians Uriel Avila and Jonathan Perez have emerged as Fort Worth's leading exponents of shoegaze after teaming up at Slowdive, a karaoke bar in Texas. Their debut album “Chameleon” captures the band's evolving sound, mixing hooks, hazy melancholy and bulldozing riffs. Comprising a bassist, drummer and guitarist, the album runs for 50 minutes, building momentum and breaking down. The lyrics of the songs follow sublime and brooding terrain, and the album's theme is death. The band's vision of a three-guitar attack reaches its peak on the song “Bardo,” which is a combination of angst and eerie sound. The track “U.S.D.D.D.O.S” ends the album, slowly deepening and fading away. “Chameleon” is a masterpiece of craftsmanship and gravity, revealing a new vision of loud-silent architectures and dizzying depths.
