Alvin Quin, an American virtuoso drummer made famous by his performances with musicians such as John Coltrane and Oscar Peterson, has had trouble entering the United States because of an old arrest. Quin has played drums passionately since childhood and has worked with famous musicians in New York and Switzerland. He held dual citizenship, but after losing his U.S. passport, he was denied entry to the U.S. because of information about his arrest as a youth, which was expunged. This denial of entry caused outrage and resentment, and many of Quin's musicians and fans quoted in the text expressed their support and disappointment. Nevertheless, Quin continued to perform in various countries and maintain his love of jazz, influencing a new generation of musicians.
